US Mint Offers Final Chance to Buy 2009 DC and U.S. Territories Coin Covers

The United States Mint today announced the end of all sales for its 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Official First Day Coin Covers, effective June 30, 2010.

The coin covers are priced at $14.95 each.  Orders may be placed at the United States Mint's online catalog, http://www.usmint.gov/catalog, or at the toll-free number, 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).  Hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may call 1-888-321-MINT (6468).

A shipping and handling fee of $4.95 is added to all domestic orders.  No online, phone or mail orders will be accepted after 5 p.m. (ET) on June 30, 2010.(...)

Royal Canadian Mint's 2010 Vancouver Commemoratives Honored

The Royal Canadian Mint is honoured that its Vancouver 2010 commemorative circulation  coin program has won global acclaim as the Best New Coin Series at the third "Excellence in Currency" Awards held in conjunction with the 2010 Currency Conference of the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Mint is also pleased that a new series of circulation coins it produced for the Central Bank of Fiji received a Runner-Up Award in the same category.

The series of 17 circulation coins, consisting of 15 25-cent coins and two "Lucky Loonie" one-dollar circulation coins prevailed over several high-calibre entries competing for this prestigious recognition ...

Movie features coins…

I watched a movie on DVD called "Dear John." It wasn't one of those box office major hits and will not likely be a movie with a large fan base. I was startled by it because coin collecting played a major role in it. It was the one true connection between the lead character and his father.
