2012 San Francisco Proof Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set |
U.S. Mint image of the 2012 San Francisco Proof Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set The United States Mint has announced its plans to launch a 2012 San Francisco Proof Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set for a limited time beginning in June. The set will go on sale on June 7, 2012 at noon Eastern Time (ET) and end on July 5, 2012 at 5 PM ET. Its price will be announced shortly before its launch. There will not be a mintage limit, as the U.S. Mint decided it will produce them based on demand during those four weeks. Making up the set are two proof American Silver Eagle coins that will be struck at the U.S. Mint facility in San Francisco, so their mintmark will be an "S." One of the coins will be a reverse proof Silver Eagle, meaning its raised "Walking Liberty" and eagle designs will have a mirror-like finish and the background will be frosted. The other coin will be a regular proof Silver Eagle, with frosted designs that seem to float on a mirror-like background. |
