Platinum Eagle Proof Coin Price Trimmed by $100

Coin collectors interested in last year's 2011-W American Platinum Eagle Proof Coin can buy it today for $100 less than yesterday. With the 2012 release yet to be announced, the United States Mint on Wednesday reduced the price of the older 99.95% pure platinum coin from $1,792 to $1,692. It is the lowest price for the Platinum Eagle, matching a short stretch of time in December when platinum plunged and the coin was also at $1,692.
