|  The new First Spouse coin launch had a positive effect on others in the series but United States Mint product sales were mostly down, showing a nearly 180 degree change from the previous week. The Labor Day weekend certainly accounted for at least some of the reduced activity. Inaugural sales for the newly issued Buchanan's Liberty First Spouse Coins were extremely high compared to the prior four releases in the series. A proof and uncirculated combined total of 6,127 sold between their release on Thursday, September 2, through Sunday, September 5. Previous opening starts were 2,434 for Pierce, 2,881 for Fillmore, 2,839 for Taylor, and 2,605 for Polk. In terms of new weekly sales, each First Spouse Gold Coin outperformed its prior increase.(...)
