The newly merged Stack's-Bowers will conduct the official auction for the March 2011 WhitmanCoin & Collectibles Expo. Here are some highlights of the U.S. coin and currency to be offered.

The author of Coin Collector's Blog describes a half hour infomercial, which attempts to sell 12-coin rolls of Presidential Dollars for $34.95 plus shipping and handling. According to the infomercial the coins are "vanishing from circulation at an alarming rate."

The Royal British Mint has opened two new nickel plating production facilities. In addition to coinsfor the UK, they supply plated coins for 60 nations around the world.

Published on CoinWeek is this discussion of coin doctoring, which presents a moral imperative for the coin industry.

Dave Harper provides some insight into the US Mint's recent request for comment on factors to consider when researching metallic coinage materials.

An interview with Todd Pollock on numismatic photography. Many stunning coin images are included.

Another response to the GAO report recommending a switch to $1 coins. This one highlights the increasing cost of cotton, which makes up 75% of the composition of the $1 bill.

And now for some notable auctions. First an auction for both the proof and uncirculated versions of the Letitia Tyler First Spouse Gold Coins.

Next, the 2008-W Uncirculated Gold Buffalo 4 Coin Set. The coins are included in an NGC multicoin holder and graded MS 70.

Last, the 1993 Philadelphia Set, which was created to mark the bicentennial of the PhiladelphiaMint. The set includes the three fractional Proof Gold Eagles, Proof Silver Eagle, and a silvermedal produced for the set.

That wraps up another update. See you next time!
